Meet the team: Sam Horne, Mechanical Design Engineer
In this installment of our semi-regular “Meet the Team” series, Industrial Tomography Systems would like to introduce the newest member of our engineering team.
Name: Sam Horne
Background: Originally from Kent (the garden of England!), I became interested in Engineering as a child, largely stemming from a love of cars. I studied BEng Mechanical Engineering at Cardiff University and MSc Mechanical Engineering Design at the University of Manchester. My work experience includes failure analysis, design of maintenance systems and mechanical design of cash handling devices.
Role at ITS: My job is to design the mechanical aspects of the sensors and create engineering drawings for suppliers and customers. As soon as I am up-to-speed with the technology I will also be assisting the Applications team, including attending sites to help commission the systems.
Hobbies: Cars and motorcycles are a big passion for me, I enjoy working on them, driving them and looking at them. I also climb, cycle and dance Salsa. At risk of sounding a bit nerdy, engineering is still a big hobby so I have been fully embracing the proximity of the Museum of Science and Industry by visiting every day at lunch.
Thoughts on ITS’s solutions: The latest generation of sensors are beautifully engineered and the instruments are extremely impressive. The technology underpinning the systems is superb and has obviously got a rich future ahead.
