Meet the team: Tom Machin, Research Engineer
In this installment of our semi-regular “Meet the Team” series, Industrial Tomography Systems invites you to meet the newest addition to our engineering team.
Name: Tom Machin
Background: Hailing from sunny Stoke-On-Trent, I am a recent graduate of the University of Birmingham, receiving an MEng in Chemical Engineering. I have a passion for Chemical Engineering derived from an enjoyment of design, problem-solving and production. Having previously held the position of ‘Chemical Engineering Assistant’ at a leading producer of speciality chemicals, my role here at ITS is my first as a postgraduate.
Role at ITS: As a research engineer, I currently operate as part of an Engineering Doctorate programme in Formulation Engineering in partnership with the University of Birmingham. The project aims to elucidate an understanding into the ‘Rheology and Characterization of Complex Multiphase Fluids using Process Tomography.’
Hobbies: As a keen sportsman, I thoroughly enjoy both taking part in and watching all sports. However, I have a particular affinity for football and an unfortunate passion for Stoke City Football Club. I’d like to think of myself as outgoing and enjoy spending time with both family and friends.
Thoughts on ITS’s solutions: ITS already provide a superb, cutting edge measurement technique applicable to a vast array of industrial problems. Having recently begun research, it is clearly evident that the potential of ITS’s product is enormous.
To learn more about the ways in which ITS is pioneering the use electrical tomography to characterize rheology, and discuss how tomography can enhance your processes at both a research and a plant level, you can complete our online enquiry form, send us an email, or call ITS directly on +44 (0) 161 832 9297.
