Meet the team: Jacob de Lama, applications engineer
In the first of a semi-regular series of news articles, Industrial Tomography Systems invites you to meet the team who make our tomography solutions possible. This month, we’re focusing on our newest applications engineer…
Name: Jacob de Lama
Background: I was born in northern Spain, where I studied to become a Mechanical Engineer at the Burgos University. After graduating, I worked as a SolidWorks teacher on a course for engineers and draughtsmen, before spending some time in Greece working as a quality surveyor, checking welded pipe for gas pipelines. When I returned to Spain, I then worked as a production manager in a company which bottled spring water, and later as a supervisor for a piping and industrial assembly company.
Linguistic skills: English and Spanish. This means I’m able to communicate effectively with customers from Spanish-speaking countries; providing assistance in a language that they are comfortable with.
Role at ITS: I’m working as an applications engineer and am in charge of the design of ITS sensors, by means of the 3D computer aided design program SolidWorks, and liaising with sensor manufacturers. In addition to this responsibility, I also deliver technical support to customers, conduct lab-based trials, and test new sensors.
Hobbies: I am very passionate about photography; particularly portrait photography, but I also enjoy taking landscapes, night pictures, anything really!
Thoughts on ITS solutions: Tomography is able to solve problems which no other technology can. As a technology, it’s constantly evolving and has huge potential.
