China Re-opens: ITS visits customers with our China distributor – R&W
One of our busiest and most successful distributors is R&W Scientific Instruments in China.
During the global Covid pandemic, we have worked closely together to provide multiple systems to customers in China but with travel restrictions in place, visits from the Shanghai-based R&W team in China have been restricted and visits from our experts in the UK have been impossible. During this period we have developed our capabilities to remotely train users and commission systems, to such an extent that in many cases, globally, a site visit from ITS is no longer required. However, we also understand the need for face-to-face human interaction.
With China re-opening for travel, ITS Senior Applications Engineer, Dr Hanyang Xu, who is based at our Manchester, UK offices, has taken the opportunity to visit many of our Chinese customers with Xuefeng Xi, president of R&W.
Example applications for these visits have taken in both Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) and Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT):
- Rotational flow using ECT, 2-phase flow using ERT,
- Pneumatic transmission (3-phase flow) using both ERT and ECT,
- Studies for marine equipment using ERT and ECT,
- Phase transition from liquid to gas monitoring using ECT.
