New high pressure Electrical Capacitance Tomography Sensors

ITS have developed an ECT (electrical capacitance tomography) sensor design based on a stainless steel pipe with a polymer liner. The combination of stainless steel outer and polymer inner can be designed and machined to match existing stainless steel pipe work. The new sensor can be used at a higher pressure than our existing ECT sensors on pipelines or flow loops.

The figure above is the ECT tomogram of two sensors measuring the resulting capacitance of a heterogeneous gas/solid mixture. The figure on the right is the resulting capacitance tomogram of the high permittivity component while the figure on the left is the simultaneous detection of both materials.
