ITS have been conducting a series of trials of the m3000 dual modality instrument at the three phase flow loop at TUV NEL in East Kilbride, Scotland.

The work has sought to validate tomography data with gamma, optical and reference metering instrumentation.

This work has led to the development of different data collection modules and analysis techniques for tomography data.  These new techniques have addressed how to capture and log data sets across a test matrix and different mechanisms of how to address changing reference conditions.

The preliminary results were presented by NEL at meetings in Kuala Lumpur and Houston earlier this year.  Further results will be presented at the World Congress for Industrial Process Tomography in Beijing in September 2010 (for the process tomography community) and later at the North Sea Flow Workshop in Scotland in October.

Through this work a number of interesting new research opportunities have been identified for applying the m3000 and also further improving data collection and interpretation.
