Recent Developments @ ITS

2/11/2009

Since our last newsletter a range of projects are now coming to completion.  These will significantly improve all the areas of instrumentation that Industrial Tomography Systems (ITS) is involved in.

Enhanced electrical resistance tomography system

3-D Image from new softwareITS’s primary Electrical Resistance Tomography platform – the p2000 – has had a substantial makeover and is being upgraded as the p2+.  There are a range of software and hardware improvements – from 3D stacked images of flow to more robust connectors and improved reliability, based on nearly 10 years of in-field applications.

The p2+ will be formally launched at ITS’s 2009 industrial user day in November.

Strategic Partnerships

ITS has formed a partnership with EnergySolutions (ES), a major provider of engineering services to the nuclear sector in the US, UK and around the world.  With a reputation for innovative problem solving we are sure that ES will identify applications in the nuclear sector where process tomography will have a major impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of nuclear waste management. ITS and ES recently exhibited at the 12th International Conference on Environmental Remediation and Radioactive Waste Management in Liverpool.

EnergySolutions is a world leader in the safe recycling, processing and disposal of nuclear material offering a full range of services for the decommissioning and remediation of nuclear sites and facilities, management of spent nuclear fuel, the transportation of nuclear material and the environmental cleanup of nuclear legacy sites. Its customers include the UK and US governments and a range of nuclear research facilities. Further information about EnergySolutions can be found on their website: www.energysolutions.com

ITS hope to announce other strategic partnerships before the end of the year.

Developments in Ultrasound and rheology measurements

Significant progress has also been made in ITS’s most recent capabilities in ultrasound instrumentation through the Rheopipe project.  Work has been going on to develop a process ready, on-line sensor with a user interface that combines simplicity with depth.  ITS is now working with a key FMCG customer to apply this technology.  More detailed information on this will be published as results become available for dissemination.
