Professor Reginald MannProfessor Reginald Mann passed away on Sunday, June 7th, 2009. Reg had been taken ill with a serious stroke on Friday June 5th. Reg, who was an Emeritus Professor in Chemical Engineering at UMIST (later the University of Manchester) is survived by his wife Gillian Taylor, and his two sons Ian and Graham.

Reg was very much involved in work to develop process tomography producing several papers on imaging mixing and flow processes using tomography. He was also a founding member of ISIPT (International Society for Industrial Process Tomography) and a leading academic of the VCIPT (Virtual Centre for Industrial & Process Tomography). In addition to these groups he was also a committee member of the ICHEME Fluid Mixing Group. ITS and Reg worked on a number of major projects together where his contributions were always well received as significant and insightful. Reg enriched the lives of those many friends and colleagues who were lucky enough to benefit from both his selflessness and his boundless enthusiasm.
