Industrial Tomography Systems plc (ITS) is a world leader in process tomography. The company provides a range of electrical and acoustic-based tomography systems for research and process applications. These are unique - designed around patented technologies, expertise and in-depth knowledge built up over more than 10 years of numerous industrial applications.
Instrumentation, software and sensors from ITS are used to characterise a wide range of multi phase processes including mixing, separation, flow and reactions.
Our systems are widely used in the pharmaceutical, food and household products, oil and gas, nuclear and mineral processing industries – providing data to enable our customers to improve efficiency, monitor and improve quality, shorten cycle times, improve yields, characterise particle size distribution, investigate multi component flow rate and develop new or improved mixing technologies.
The company invests heavily in research and development and is forever striving to develop new tomography systems to meet the application needs of our customers. We employ people with wide industry expertise who have detailed understanding of our products, providing our customers with extensive support to achieve the optimum performance from our systems.
ITS' head office is in Manchester, UK - with an extensive distributor network supporting customers globally.

"Overall it has been demonstrated that the ERT system can provide very valuable information for the monitoring and control of multiphase processes"
Dr F.X. Ricard, GlaxoSmithKline
“ERT has helped us better understand several of our products“
Dr. Radboud Nelissen, Associate Research Scientist, Nestle Ltd
"Tomographic imaging provides feedback for improved operation"
Dr D.M. Scott, Proc. SPIE vol. 4188, p. 1 (2001)
We have conducted pioneering studies on the ECT-assisted analysis of high pressure (20 atm) and temperature (453 to 503 K) in a mechanically-stirred slurry Fischer-Trospch reaction to relate phase hold-up evolution to reaction metrics.
Prof Soji Adesina, Reactor Engineering and Technology Group, University of New South Wales, Australia
Electrical Resistance Tomography has been applied for the monitoring of milk storage and mixing tanks used in various stages of the milk processing industry to multi-dimensionally monitor milk concentration and fat content with high accuracy. It provides direct insight into these opaque vessels providing the user with reliable dynamic multidimensional information required for automatic process control. It has been successfully applied for the three-dimensional analysis of overall homogeneity or non-homogeneity; total solids content monitoring, adulteration, cream separation, aeration and object detection of such vessels.
